HostCraft ("we") is a free desktop app made by an independent developer. There are no accounts, and we don't sell or share personal data.
What the app sends, and to whom
- Downloads. When you create a server, the app downloads files directly from Mojang, PaperMC, FabricMC, PurpurMC, Eclipse Adoptium (Java), Modrinth and GeyserMC. Those services see your IP address, as with any download.
- Network tools. "Your public address" asks ipify.org. "Test from the internet" asks mcsrvstat.us to check your public IP and port. Automatic port opening talks only to your own router.
- Live map (optional). If you turn it on, BlueMap is downloaded from Modrinth and, once you accept the Minecraft EULA, downloads Minecraft's textures from Mojang. The map runs on your PC. If you share it with a "free link", HostCraft downloads Cloudflare's cloudflared program from GitHub and visitors reach your map through Cloudflare (a trycloudflare.com address), so Cloudflare handles that traffic. Anyone with a map link can see your world and where players are.
- Ads. The app downloads a list of ads from our website (hosted by Cloudflare). It picks ads on your PC and loads their images itself, so advertisers don't receive your IP address. We use no cookies, advertising IDs or profiles.
- Anonymous ad statistics. Once a day the app may send how many times each ad was shown and clicked. It contains no personal information. You can turn it off in Support HostCraft.
- Feedback (only when you send it). If you use Send feedback in the app or the form on our contact page, we store what you write, the email address if you add one (only to reply to you), and, unless you untick it, your HostCraft version and Windows version. We don't store your IP address with it; a one-way hash of it is kept for an hour to stop spam. Only the developer can read feedback, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
- Ad-free unlock. If you unlock ad-free with your Ko-fi email, the app sends that email to our server, which only compares a one-way hash of it with donation records. We never store the email itself. Supporter keys are stored only on your PC.
Donations
Donations are handled by Ko-fi and its payment providers under Ko-fi's privacy policy. Ko-fi sends us the donation amount, your Ko-fi name and email. We keep only a hash of the email, the total amount, your Ko-fi display name and the transaction IDs.
This website
If this website shows Google ads, Google may use cookies to show and measure them. In the UK and EEA you'll be asked for consent first, and you can change your choice at any time. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Email [email protected].
